Spring always makes me want to lighten everything: the clothes I reach for, the foods I crave, and the way my skincare ritual feels.

After months of heavier creams and protective layers, skin tends to want something fresher. Not necessarily a complete overhaul, just a shift toward lighter textures, gentle exfoliation, and a bit more circulation and glow.

These are the products I’d reach for to transition my ritual from winter’s deeper nourishment into the softer, brighter energy of spring.

A gentle enzyme exfoliant is one of the easiest ways to wake skin up after winter. Something like Tatcha’s Rice Polish dissolves buildup without the irritation that stronger acids can cause.

For hydration, I love layering a lightweight essence or serum before oils or creams. Vintner’s Daughter Active Treatment Essence is a beautiful one. It’s deeply hydrating while still feeling incredibly light.

Spring is also when I tend to swap richer creams for a lighter botanical oil. True Botanicals Renew Pure Radiance Oil gives that soft glow without feeling heavy.

For moisturizer, the goal is barrier support without density. Augustinus Bader The Cream is one of the most respected formulas for exactly that reason: nourishing, but breathable.

A facial mist is something I use more once the weather warms up. A few sprays of Herbivore’s Rose Hibiscus Mist mid-day instantly refresh the skin and feels like a small reset.

With sunnier days, Vitamin C becomes essential again. SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic remains the gold standard for brightening and antioxidant protection.

And of course, daily SPF is non-negotiable as spring sun returns. Supergoop Mineral Sheerscreen is a beautiful mineral option that feels elegant on the skin.

Finally, spring rituals are all about circulation and movement. A gua sha tool, like the stainless steel one from Mount Lai, adds a few calming minutes of facial massage that instantly brings glow back to the skin.

As the seasons change, the skin usually asks for subtle shifts.

Lighter textures, a bit of gentle exfoliation, a little more circulation and hydration. Nothing drastic, just small adjustments that allow the ritual to move naturally into spring.

Often, that’s all the reset the skin needs.
